The Alchemical Shift
There is a concept in alchemy of transmuting lead into gold. It is an old, romantic idea, but it misses the point. Gold is just another heavy thing to carry. The real work is transmuting lead into ether.
For the better part of my life, I have dealt in weight. The proverbial label of "The Good Son," that ultimately went a rye. The literal weight of the label of Provider for many after 20 years. The psychological weight of surviving a war, to come home to what's my purpose and being misunderstood. The heavy, suffocating density of existing in a modern world that demands your attention but gives nothing back to your soul.
Lead is the survival mindset. It is the armor we put on to get through the day. It is necessary for a time, but if you wear it long enough, it poisons you.
Lead and Ether is the documentation of a transition. It is about stripping away the armor. It is about taking the heavy, dense realities of a life lived in the trenches—both physical and digital—and refining them into something intangible, clear, and lasting.
This isn't about escaping reality; it’s about finally touching it. It’s about moving from the survival of the past into the peace of the present.
Welcome to the laboratory. This is my place to express the thoughts of my head, without the narratives of you need therapy, you need religion, no I need to learn myself and heal Him. The rest is minutia if you can't live with your own mind.
